My Students

This year I have been given the responsibility to teach eighth grade science to approximately 100 students. In these first few months of school, I have had the opportunity to spend time with them daily and better understand their learning styles and interests. We have done guided reading notes, group work, 3D models, computer research, and iReady test preparation. Each group of students has shown me their strengths and weaknesses as well as different ability levels.

I have found that eighth grade students at our school are eager to learn but NEED to be challenged in order to stay interested!

Although they are all working hard, some of our students have achieved such high scores that the test prep programs we have do not challenge them anymore.

My Project

As an 8th grade teacher of 12 years, I have seen many students work hard and begin planning for high school and college. Although a lot of our students are on grade level and have plenty to keep them interested and on task, there are quite of few who complete their work easily. These are the students who are most interested in taking the ACT early to determine their strengths and weaknesses.

Our students have achieved as high as possible on their current test prep and NEED more to prepare them for high school.

By providing them with next level instruction, they will stay engaged and succeed!
