My students need 36 boxes of chalk pastels to "paint" the sidewalk at our Annual Fine Arts Night.
This project expired on January 5, 2013.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Involving the entire student body in an art experience is wonderful. Eighty students create works of art on the pavement so the entire school can be exposed to the art world.
My students are a varied group.
Our school is over 60% minority with a small group of affluent students. Our school is a charter school for seventh and eighth graders; however, we were originally a public school and most of our students are from our attendance area. Most of our students have not been exposed to the arts but have an enormous potential.
With 36 boxes of chalk pastels the students will be able to create interesting, colorful, and dynamic scenes on the patio's sidewalk for all the visitors of the Fine Art Night to view. This activity will encourage the participants to continue with their artistic endeavors in the future. It will also encourage other students that view the incredible artwork to understand how art is a great visual tool and hopefully want to create their own artwork.
Students will be able to see famous paintings displayed in colorful chalk pastels on the pavement of their school campus.
They will see paintings they recognize and some that they will make them curious. This should inspire future artists to want to participate or create their own works of art. The arts are important in a well-round curriculum and this activity will help to promote the Fine Arts at our school.
