Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with a wonderful group of 25 second graders in Somis, California. My students are very enthusiastic learners and enjoy learning about all topics. The kids come from a variety of backgrounds and bring a lot of experiences into our classroom.
Somis is a small town that focuses on agriculture with a lot of farms and ranches surrounding the school.
Our school is a Title I school where about 40% of students are socioeconomically disadvantaged. As a one-school school district, the staff and families are very connected and everyone works together for the good of the students.
My Project
The supplies I am requesting will help my wiggly students focus on learning and provide all students with a comfortable place to engage in reading. Wobble Chairs and stability cushions will cause students to engage their core and, in turn, become less likely to be overactive while sitting. The set of stools will be used for small group work. Their small and lightweight frames make them easy to move as students move to work around the room.
My students love to read!
The bean bag chairs will be used frequently as students choose places to read around the room. All of the flexible seating choices will greatly enhance our classroom environment and help students focus!
