I am a second grade teacher who loves seeing students read. In my past seven years of teaching experience, I have found that my students are more motivated to read silently and independently if they are given an appropriate place to read in. At the present time, my former students have used pillows and beanbags (that were graciously donated) in the reading corner for their silent reading time. But over the years, these items have been used so much that they are no longer appealing to my students. I am in desperate need of several chairs for my students. The chairs that I have chosen are durable and will withstand years of use by my second graders. Furthermore, what makes them most appealing is that they are kid size rocking chairs, which makes them kid friendly. I feel that these chairs will make my reading corner more inviting and make my students want to read more.
