The kindergarten students in my classroom will grow and change the world through respect, creativity, energy, excitement, knowledge, problem-solving, and collaborating. By carefully constructing an environment filled with opportunities that challenge them to think and grow beyond anyone’s wildest imagination, they are inspired to work hard to grow their genius.
The kindergarten students in my classroom are a family of learners, growing through experiences, trials, mistakes, and opportunities with determination, perseverance, and hard work.
Students are challenged to dream big and in return, they challenge the teachers to dream bigger. They do not want to be bystanders in their learning but at the center of the action creating, constructing, and exploring. The focus is not on the learning of today, but the education they will need to make a lasting impact on the world of tomorrow.
These young learners are the true heroes as they learn to navigate education in a whole new way with great expectation and excitement. Together we work to build a community that extends far beyond our classroom walls.
My Project
Bucket seating has been a staple in my classroom for just over five years. It worked - until it didn't. This year, my learners have been extremely hard on my bucket seats and I seem to spend a lot of time focused on redirecting instead of learning. I finally decided it was time to find this group of students something that supported them physically, developmentally, and academically.
The contemporary chairs with an ergo dynamic contoured design are perfect and they were even available in red and black to match our Cat in the Hat classroom theme.
How FUN is that!
Soon we will be opening a candy shop in our classroom to practice counting, comparing numbers and amounts, and building our understanding and vocabulary of equal, not equal, more, less, greater, and fewer. The students will be working to earn money to spend in the shop as well as working behind the counter. The wide variety of candy and aprons are the perfect addition to bring this learning opportunity to life.
A couple of years back I began to create a Kindergarten Construction Company in my classroom. I have been slowly trying to add construction vehicles and other items to my inventory to further engage my students through hands-on experiences in the architectural, engineering, and building process. Oh, how I love my job and my little learners.
