This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My Kindergarteners come from a low socioeconomic background. Even though this is on their back, they are the most loving and hard working 5 and 6 year olds. Being a teacher, I don’t have much to give financially and I want my students to grow and thrive as much as they can. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
These students come from tough situations and despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
My Project
These chair pockets will help my kindergarteners be more successful throughout our busy day. With a chair pocket, my students will be able to keep all of their supplies in one place. When they need their journal, writing folder, pencil, book, or paper, they can just reach into their chair pocket and grab what they need.
With the chair pockets, students will easily be able to access their supplies, get the materials they need right away, and complete their work in a timely manner.
Something I focus on a lot with my students is teaching them organizational skills and how to respect their belongings. These chair pockets will go a long way in helping them with this skill!
