Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The majority of my high school students come from a low income home, and bring with them dreams of building a more successful life for both themselves and their families. They have had more experiences in their lives than one can imagine. The dreams I have for my classrooms will offer an opportunity for these students to learn how to best express themselves, and to create meaningful, emotion filled artwork. my classroom is an open and safe space for my students to be able to share their dreams and emotions.

My Project

Currently we are moving chairs back and forth across the classroom, and the chairs we have are not the best height for optimal throwing. These will help us use our class time for learning, rather than moving furniture. Throwing on a wheel is a fun skill where students can not only learn about types of pottery across time, but also develop hands on skill and technique to make these artwork themselves. I am excited to help my students have more success this year, by using the proper furniture and having a better equipped classroom for all of my kiddos this year.
