"I saw my art on the wall!" "Man, I am an artist!" These are just a couple of phrases I hear on a daily basis. Getting to witness the joy on my students' faces when they see their artwork displayed throughout the school or step back to view their art after they create something new is so thrilling as an art teacher.
My students are creative and love expressing their artistic abilities in my art class whether it's painting, drawing, or even sculpting and so much more!
Our campus has grown to over 1400 students this year and they all come from diverse backgrounds and come in with different art abilities. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their artistic potential and growth while they are with me. Art helps bring out my kids' creative side that a normal classroom setting might not help them achieve and, in turn, helps them excel in the classroom.
In a world of hand-held games, internet at their finger tips, and digital drawing it is so important for students to get to experience the original art forms while in my classroom. Ceramics, drawing, and painting are just a few of the art forms my students participate in throughout the school year in my classroom, but they are my students' favorite things to do in art. Our school grew by 400 students this year not only increasing my class size, but increasing my need for more supplies for these projects specifically.
My students love when we get to work with clay and make our own ceramics as well as learning how to draw and paint.
I am asking for new ceramic glazes, paintbrushes, charcoal drawing pencils, and pencil sharpeners for my students. The supplies will be used to glaze our pottery creations with new and exciting colors, learn how to draw and shade using charcoal pencils, paint using different paintbrushes, and make using supplies easier with electric and hand-held pencil sharpeners at their finger tips. With these supplies my students will be able to create more beautiful projects and let their art talents shine!
