My Students

My school is set in a rural town of Northern Michigan. Outside of school, art is not easily accessible to the community. The closest art supply stores, galleries, and art studios are over 30 miles away. Our classroom is a place for youth to experience art close to home.

My Project

Ceramics has always been a student favorite. These supplies will be used to teach young artists how to create clay cereal bowls and tea mugs.

Students will learn how to combine coil building with slab building to make personalize pottery.

This will help students in their comprehension of artists having multiple reasons for creating art. This project will show students how art can be functional.

Students will learn various glazing, color mixing, and surface design techniques to personalize their pottery. Additionally, these supplies will help students refine their glazing skills.
