My students need a kiln cart to store greenware and bisqueware before and after it comes out of the kiln. The stilts will allow the pieces to be glaze fired without getting stuck to the shelves.
My students come from a varied background, many from military families and some that have never taken art before. We are fortunate to have art as a resource and be able to expose these children to all that art offers. We have many new students this year that came from Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. Art is a wonderful outlet to help keep their minds off the damage and a great way for them to express their feelings.
The art room is a place they can explore, learn, and create.
The children learn various techniques such as drawing, painting, printmaking, and 3D work, experiment with different mediums, incorporate different styles, and explore art history. I hope they leave my room inspired and eager to create more art!
My Project
The large steel cart will be the perfect place to store ceramic pieces while they dry and for storage in between firings. I can arrange the projects according to classes on the different shelves.
The cart is heat resistant so I can unload directly from the kiln and not worry about the surface melting.
The cart will be perfect to transport the 3D works back and forth between classrooms and allow them to be moved safely.
The stilts will allow the pieces to be glaze fired without getting stuck to the kiln shelves. They prop up the pieces so the air can get under them.
