I'm a librarian at a diverse school in Roseville, MN. There are over 450 students at my school from many different countries and backgrounds. They are intelligent readers and love to bring books home.
My students love to read books!
I'm always trying to find the right book for every reader and it's great when a student really connects with a book. This project will help get books into the hands of school kids, as well as kids from the neighborhood. It can serve thousands of people, not just the students in my school.
My Project
Little Free Libraries are a huge hit in communities around they world. They provide books for neighborhood kids, adults, and families. This project would buy an unfinished Little Free Library kit that we would put in front of the school. There is a bench where people could sit and read books or peruse the ones they'd like to choose.
We also need books to stock the Little Free Library!
I would also use the funds to purchase books to help initially stock the library. These are books that students and kids would enjoy reading. All of the books in the Little Free Library are available to take and keep. People can also contribute books to the library. It's a community library that all can benefit from.
