My students need markers, scissors, chalk, stacking drawers, and shelf savers.

I teach 3rd grade in southern Louisiana. This is a Title I school where the students love to learn. At my school everyone works together to make success achievable for every student. Even though, these students have personal hardships, teachers and parents work together to ensure that the children get the best education possible. Many of our families are effected by the economy and do not have jobs.
During the school year, my students have benefited from having small group instruction. The centers that provide these small groups are short on supplies. After discussing with my students what would make our centers better, my students and I have come up with a list. This list includes: markers, scissors, carts, and buckets for science experiments. These items would provide hands-on-learning which would help to improve our understanding of each assignment.
My students enjoy coming to school because it gives them the opportunity to become successful. I enjoy being with these children. Their success is important to me as well. Because the children cannot afford the things needed for school, I purchase a lot of the items needed myself. I usually stock up during the before school sale. I buy things like paper towel, Kleenex, crayons, baby wipes, tablets, and pencils. However, I cannot buy everything that is needed and need some assistance. I have been working with these children for many years. First, as a mother, then as a substitute teacher, and now as a teacher myself. In the past, I have bought school bags, jackets, uniform pants, and countless amounts of supplies. I really care about these children and would be very grateful for any help I could get to help them to succeed. Thank you for you kindness and assistance. My students have dreams of college and understand that an education is their way to success. I have tried to build relationships with my parents so they know that I will mentor the children throughout their lives, not just in 4th grade. I love my students and it is important to me that they succeed not only in 4th grade,
In the last 2 years I have spent over $3,000 of my own money buying uniforms, shoes, eyeglasses, and other things that my students need. I try to care for each child as I would my own children. This grant would go far in helping the children learn. I will gladly do whatever is necessary to comply with any and all terms associated with this grant and I thank you sincerely for your kind consideration of my request.
