Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

80% of the students in my school qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch. Despite the hardships, my students are at school every day itching to learn and grow! My students love learning, work hard every day, and believe in their futures.

My students take their learning very seriously.

Every one of them has set goals and has developed steps to reach them. We have a culture of growth in my classroom, and we all work together to achieve those goals.

My Project

The materials in my project will be used by my students during small-group instruction and centers. The materials will help teach and reinforce skills that my students need to learn in kindergarten such as, sight words, CVC words, letter recognition, and measurement & data. The Tower of Sight-Words will be played as a game in centers while also helping students recognize sight words that they will need to know to learn how to read. The letter crayons will help students learn CVC words and the dough stampers will help students recognize lower case letters.

Currently, my students do not have any materials to use to learn about measurement & data so having centers about measuring weight and length will help teach and reinforce these skills.
