I teach ESE in Pre-K and, therefore, teach a great variety of students. I teach children with autism, non-verbal children, and children with developmental delays. I have children ranging from almost 3 to 6 years of age. This wide variety of ages makes it hard for my students to all do the same activities.
The needs of our students vary depending on their exceptionalities.
All of our students come from different backgrounds bringing in cultural differences that we take into account. Our classroom is the most diverse of any classroom in the school system.
Due to ages and cultural differences, and the various disabilities, we have more obstacles to overcome on a daily basis before we begin to work on education. One of the things my students have in common is that they love to play outside every day.
My Project
I am trying to get new centers together that the parents can borrow from my classroom and use at home with their children. This is a collection of alphabet games and magnets that are fun and educational.
I am hoping to have more parental involvement this way we are unable to have parents at school at this time due to COVID.
The Learning Centers that we are looking to get are fun and easy to use and will be a way for students to show some of what they are learning in school. I hope to build on this area in the future.
