As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with even more challenges because they are learning disabled. Many of them are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free breakfast and lunch based on their socioeconomic status.
I try to make my classroom an environment that is safe for all learners to have a fun, creative place to learn.
My students have mixed abilities and love to try new things. They thrive on success and every 'good job' moment. They are curious, creative and clever. They may have difficulty getting everything correct but they sure give it a try and live for those successful moments.
My Project
In this project, I am asking for a variety of materials. All of this will help my students in many ways. Some items are for center learning time, while others are going to be used when center time is done.
The students in my class are hard workers and our school has high expectations for each one.
My class is a mix of special needs students, average learners and high achieving students. I like to provide the whole class with opportunities to succeed while learning at their own pace and abilities.
Healthy children create a foundation for learning science, math/financial literacy, reading, writing, social studies, etc. It helps them in all of their classes during the day. These supplies will help to get the class attendance up and engage the students to learn! This project also helps with personal responsibility as we are all in charge of taking care of our space!
