Help us expand our creative minds! My students look forward to learning centers every week!
I teach first grade students in an inclusion classroom in a high poverty school.
I have a mix of general education students and students with disabilities. During learning centers, my students have the opportunity to engage in many activities that they don't have access to at home and that also expand their creativity through play and social interactions.
My Project
Currently, my students have a limited amount of choices during learning centers because of the lack of resources in my classroom. They play with connecting blocks that are old and broken and do art work with just markers and crayons. I would love to expose them to more arts and crafts activities through painting, play doh, and collages as well as provide them the opportunity to continue their love of block building with Lego pieces. These new materials would not only continue to increase my students' love of school but would also help them expand their creativity, develop critical and problem solving skills as well as further develop their social skills through their interactions with their peers.
My students and I would be beyond ecstatic if this request was met!
With these arts and crafts and block building materials, I would be able to provide my students with experiences that many other students their age typically have at home and/or school.
