Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing, intelligent and creative seven and eight year old children in Miami, Florida who attend a small close-knit community school with very limited resources. Most of my students come from low socioeconomic households and do not have access to enough school supplies and materials. They love learning and reading and anything that is imaginative captures and contains their attention. They enjoy hands-on, interactive S.T.E.M. activities that they can immerse themselves in. They are very bright and special children!
My Project
These materials will be used as grab-and-go centers while I work with small groups of students on Differentiated Instruction.
The Spelligator, Word Building Set and Word Construction Centers will allow students to work on their word work and phonics while the Sentence Building Center will help them become better writers.
The Osmo Creative Set combines creative tools, games and cutting edge technology to foster creativity and problem solving skills. Students can bring their drawings to life and they will become part of magical animated activities.
Having resources like this at their fingertips will bring a whole new dimension to their learning environment I could never provide on my own. These materials will provide hand-on learning opportunities and they will be better students because of it.
