I am differentiating math instruction with my twenty-five fifth graders at a suburban elementary school. To make this differentiation more hands-on as well as more individualized, I am creating math centers based on areas of the curriculum that need more reinforcement. Some students need to master their multiplication and division facts as well. These math centers will provide needed practice on many skills. I would like to use the Every Day Counts Partner Games Kit-Grade Five that coordinates with the Every Day Math Counts Calendar program we use. Other materials I'd like to feature at the centers would be: Learning Wrapups for all facts as well as fractions, Deluxe Fraction, Decimals, and Percents Tower Sets, and self-checking, handson math puzzles for all operations. These materials would easily work with students of varying math ability. The math differentiation will enable all my students to work on their individualized level and succeed.
