What makes a rainbow? Why does it snow? Where does the fog come from? Why do some things sink and others float? These are all inquisitive questions. What better way to provide my 25 Kindergarten students with the answers than to give them a Science Center?
A Science Center in an early learning room is based on exploration. My students would work daily to investigate which materials are attracted to magnets. They would work to blend colors into new colors. They would use a magnifying glass to enlarge an object. They would collect and classify insects. They would grow seeds and note their growth development.
I would love to offer them a place to experiment and learn about basic Scientific concepts. With such a strong focus on Math and Reading today, Science is often neglected in my classroom. It takes materials to teach science and often the money is spent on Language Arts and Math materials and training.
Please help me develop my students as knowledgeable scientists. Students who retain their curiosity, who are not afraid to ask questions, need a place to go to explore their ideas!
