My students come from a low income rural area and have a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. They are such a hard working, enthusiastic class that I have grown very proud of. There are 22 students in my class this year, most of whom do not have these resources available to them at home. Our school strives to make each child feel successful! They are hard working and enjoy coming to school everyday ready to learn and work hard.
My project consists of classroom magnetic kits, magnetic numbers and counters and guided reading books. These resources are needed for our center activities. Center time is when my students choose different activities to work on during our reading block. I plan to use the sight word learning center, CVC word match and the classroom magnetic kit in small group activities specific to Common Core standards. Manipulatives have endless possibilities and are very portable to move around the room. The manipulatives will be used for literacy and math centers.
These items will engage my students in Common Core activities throughout the day.
They will provide a hands-on learning experience for my students. I know they will be excited to have these materials available to them.
