Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a group of 24 eager first graders whose enthusiasm for learning is contagious. My students live in a low-income, high poverty area where they face many challenges in their daily lives. Despite their daily hardships, my students come to school excited and ready to learn. The more they see themselves accomplish, the more confident they become in their academic abilities and the more they love learning!
My goal is to create a learning environment for all students to succeed and develop a love and enthusiasm for learning!
My Project
My students have developed a love for learning and have become active participants in class daily. Small group rotations are very much a part of our daily routine. They allow for differentiation and for each student to achieve mastery on their own level. My goal is to create engaging, hands-on activities in which students are engaged. My students come in to school every day looking forward to see what stations they will get to participate in that day. While the students continue to be excited for stations, we need some new material to update our station rotations.
The donation of the following station materials will continue to increase student engagement and their academic achievement.
The donation of kinetic sand will allow students to take a multi-sensory approach to spelling and sight word practice. The stamp and write sight words will allow students a different approach to practicing and applying their knowledge of 25 sight words. The tabletop writing center will encourage students to delve into their imagination in our daily writing station. Individual whiteboards allow students the opportunity to use a different writing tool in all content areas.
