My students are a very diverse group with an equally diverse set of needs. We are a larger school in a high poverty district within a small city. All students receive free breakfast and lunch to ensure that they each get to eat every day. Eating breakfast and lunch are just two of the many challenges my students face each and every day. Many of them have issues that extend beyond the classroom. It is my job to ensure that they are able to focus on their academics while helping them navigate through their personal lives; learning coping skills, communication skills, and gaining self-confidence.
My students are amazing children who deserve every opportunity to achieve success.
My class has a number of students with special learning needs; many who struggle with focus and attention. Many did not have the opportunity to attend preschool and, therefore, this is their first experience in school. It is my goal to reach every student and their individual needs.
My Project
Please help me get the materials needed to create and organize math and literacy centers for my students. Learning can be tough for anyone but especially for five year olds.
My students need fun and exciting centers in order to achieve success in math and literacy.
File folders will help organize the materials by subject and topic. The plastic envelopes will allow me to put all of the center materials in one place for storage and use. Laminating pouches will allow the centers to be used multiple times throughout this year and future years. Finally, sentence strips are used in a variety of center activities such at number order, word building, and story re-tell.
These items will all help my students have center activities that are fun and engaging while still helping to foster their learning.
