Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

This year I am teaching second grade again! My school is in a low-income urban area serving students from K-5, who are predominantly African American.

Second grade is a year of new beginnings and academic growth for students.

My students are on a variety of levels academically. Having such a wide range of academic levels in one room, we need to use various methods to provide support. We will spend this school year growing as individuals socially, emotionally and academically.

My Project

My class needs differentiated centers for individual growth. During the literacy and math blocks, we have centers so that students can work on skills on their own while I work with small groups.

There is such a wide range of needs in my room and as a result, I have to provide a variety of activities on a variety of levels.

I create, print, laminate, and put together all of our activities.

The supplies in the cart will be used to create new colorful and engaging centers for my students. The CVC words and sight word activity will also be used in literacy centers to support students in reading fluency and decoding.
