Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our day begins early because students receive free breakfast. Often it is challenging to keep students occupied when I am working in small groups. My goal is to guide students to work independently in small groups with these Center games while I am working with my small group.
My students are mostly of Hispanic descent.
Our school is in an urban area. We are a Pre-K to 8th grade building. Our class size will increase from about 24 to 35 this fall. Unfortunately, I will not have an aide and many students need extra help to grasp and comprehend skills needed.
My Project
The math and literacy center games will enrich many of my students while I am working in small groups. They will be one of the many activities I provide to reinforce skills learned. Vocabulary building will increase comprehension. Even the math games involve reading and both involve group interaction. Both games involve Grade 3 Common Core standards.
The donations I receive for this project will make group work more fun.
Students will be excited to work together and help each other learn. My students will enjoy taking a break from paper, pencil and computers!
