Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with high energy, inquisitive students in California. My school is in a high-risk neighborhood and has a high transiency rate. We are 100% free breakfast/lunch and are roughly 40% English language learners. Despite the fact that there are high poverty and crime in our community, my students love coming to school to learn. School is where they feel safe and loved.
I love when my students tell me that they want to stay at school longer and that they do not want to leave kindergarten at the end of the year!
They make it a joy to go to work every day!
My Project
Kindergarten is a fast paced, exciting place. Keeping my students engaged in their learning centers is a challenge. Worksheets and workbooks are not ideal to keep my students busy.
My students love to learn and the more hands-on and active the better.
These materials will help my students learn language arts and math concepts in our daily centers.
The reading phones will help my students hear themselves blending and reading. The magnetic blocks and geometric shape builders will help my budding engineers. The poppers will help students count to 100. The dry erase pockets will help students with writing. And the alphabet acorns, alligators, and fishing puzzle will help students learn the alphabet.
