Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a Spanish teacher trying to bring the Spanish-speaking culture to life for my students! I teach at an inner city, low-income magnet school with a 100% minority population. I see grades K-5 on a daily basis.
My children love speaking Spanish and learning about cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. They enjoy rotating through learning centers in my classroom. Centers allow them to interact with one another, challenge themselves individually, and work together as a group. And to put it simply: they're fun! I would love to continue motivating my students to learn and love Spanish by creating a literacy center.
Funding for our program this year has been cut drastically. Due to our school's budget, I am not able to purchase materials that I need to motivate my students and provide the instruction they deserve. Financial support from donors would allow me to provide new resources for my students.
I would like to buy a set of Spanish alphabet letters, a "Learning Spanish with Dora" CD-Rom, a set of early Spanish Readers and a pocket chart to help organize our literacy centers. I want my students to love learning through fun, interactive activities. A literacy center complete with manipulatives, computer activities and colorful books will encourage their literacy skills and growth in cultural development.
Your help will ensure that my students receive the best instruction through interactive and challenging activities...all the while having fun learning another language!
