Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students reside in a low income poverty stricken neighborhood where their families face many challenges daily. For many of them, my class is their first experience in school and I want to expose them to learning in a clean classroom environment. They are low-income students, who come from one parent families. Many do not have a high school diploma and at times, do not have the time or skills to assist their child daily.

I want to introduce my students to a listening center and a recording studio within our classroom environment in a relaxed space.

My students are kind, lovable and very special because they are excited about learning and they love to learn. They love to participate in small groups which consists of language arts, fine and gross motor, cognitive, social/emotional, adaptive and moral developmental activities.

My Project

These materials will make a difference because my students will be able to increase their knowledge of books and be able to listen to books on CD and role play them with their classmates as they learn about different things in and around the world. They will be able to share different reading knowledge with their classmates as well as their families.

They will be able to follow directions, individual instructions, participate in memory and recall activities and record stories as they gain and build reading and listening skills.

Research states that "listening skills become extremely important to a child's social development as they enter Preschool because they engage in conversation, musical activities, songs and stories. Therefore , your donation will support my students listening skills and literacy development.
