My students need puzzles, games, and manipulative activities to play during centers. This is the time for them to work collaboratively on phonics and math while I work with a small group.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students take a lot of pride when they feel empowered and in charge of their own learning. These center activities will allow them to do just that. While playing, they will be working cooperatively with each other to learn phonics and math skills. These are the foundations of first grade.
My students come from a low-socio economic setting.
They are smart, funny, insightful and they love to learn! As first graders, they are at the beginning of their education and my goal is for them to develop a love of learning that will carry on with them for the rest of their lives. There are 30 students in the classroom, so it must be very structured in order for all of them to learn. Their families might not have the resources to provide supplemental activities at home, so school is their main source of educational activities. My students are the absolute best group of children. They brighten my day, each and everyday!
My Project
These resources will allow my students to work in small groups to take charge of their learning. These games are engaging as well as educational. They will enjoy playing them, while I am able to work with a small group on specific and strategic lessons. With 30 students in my classroom, it is important that they have engaging learning resources to cooperate with others, while I am able to give more attention to a small group. All of the students will rotate so that they can meet with me, but it is especially important for the students that need strategic interventions, so that they can get to and stay on grade level.
My project is so important for the successful management and implementation of curriculum in my classroom.
These activities provide an engaging way for students to stay focused on learning while I can assist a small group. It is very hard to keep 25 students engaged while I work with 5 students in a small group, but these activities will enable me to do that. The activities range in skill and ability to be able to differentiate instruction.
