This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My freshmen students are new to the way we conduct research and practice science. They visited us once during eight grade orientation and will return for a ninth grade pre-enrollment. They looked like they were scared to come into my science classroom.
These students need a chance to conduct experiments that will motivate them to study more about science and technology.
The freshman class desire to get refreshed about science. These students are eager to do lab activities and exploration.
My Project
We must study a unit on the cells. I chose the cell division kit to be used to investigate mitosis and meiosis. Students will get a chance to see the cells divide. We will use an introduction to cells kit to familiarize ourselves with the basic structure and function of cells and organelles.
Algae and photosynthesis will be explored in more details with the use of a kit.
We normally draw picture and do small demonstrations to help understand the process of photosynthesis. This kit will allow them to get a better understanding of the process and the organisms that use photosynthesis.
