"Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals." ~Martin Luther King, Jr
My school is a challenging campus as we draw from a variety of socioeconomic and ethnically diverse groups.
On my campus, there are a large number of students who will be first-time college-bound students; some of them first-time high school graduates in their families! What a tribute to their families! My students have the drive to learn, to achieve, and to succeed enough to get them into college. All they need to succeed is dedication along with a guide to help them learn how to study, how to be proud of their work and have confidence in themselves!
Cell phones are a way of life and can be a huge distraction for many students during class. The clear plastic bins that I am requesting are going to be my students' cell phones new home during class. The bins will be decorated and placed in the center of their tables and used for a place to put cells phones in during the class period.
Students are often reluctant to have their cell phones out of site at school and are often tempted to check their phones during class.
By creating a safe spot for their phones, students will not be able to use their phones during class but they will still be able to see them. It is a win - win situation for me!
I am also requesting Kleenex to have in my classroom so my students have something soft to blow their noses.
