My students are a great bunch of soon-to-be young adults who are looking to be inspired in ways that don't always use technology. They are kind, have hit some rough patches and are looking for ways to connect with others.
We have yet to embark upon cell biology this year but in the past I have struggled to get my students interested in cells and microscopes for things such as onion cells, or bark. This lab would allow the kids to see cancer cells, something every student knows about and might even affect them personally. They will get to physically see a sample and start to bridge connections as to how mutations work and can affect the body. This will be a great bridge into our genetics unit. Thank you.
