Help me give my students the Latin Percussion instruments and books to inspire our upcoming study of Celia Cruz and all things Salsa. We will bring rhythmic energy to the music using the bongos, guiros and more!

My Students

My students are animated, creative, and soulful in their music-making. They delight in singing songs new and old and appreciate a good challenge. My students are budding instrumentalists who flourish with instrumental performance opportunities and demonstrate their own creative spirit through improvisation and musical conversation. I am inspired by the energy that they bring to music each week.

My Project

We have been enjoying the music of Celia Cruz, and want to dive deeper in to the world of Salsa. We aim to listen, move and create. To play the music, authentic instruments will make all the difference. To compliment the Conga drums already in our classroom, we need some Guiros, Agogo bells, Bongos and Cabasas to play. Another barred metallophone will help us with the bass lines and develop our improvisation skills. With the goal of dissecting the many rhythmic parts of Salsa, these instruments (and biography books) are sure to inspire for this and many years to come!
