My students need a book called, "Why Should I Recycle? " and planters to engage in hands-on learning activities to learn more how to reduce, reuse and recycle.
My students are very curious and energetic. They are ecstatic and passionate about learning, just as I am about teaching them.
"My students make me feel proud.
People always say one person can't make a difference, but I have proof that these kids have made a difference." -Michelle Roosma
I teach in a Title I school where about 90% percent of my students are English Language Learners and come from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. A full 95% of my students receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch.

"If we do not know how to respect the Mother Earth, we do not know how to respect ourselves."-Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi
I would like to create a thematic unit about making Earth Day every day for my kindergartners.
As a whole class, I plan to read the book, “Why Should I Recycle?” to continue teaching my students to understanding why we need to make every day Earth Day. Then, students can draw and create posters to encourage others to recycle, reduce and reuse items they have in the classroom or at home.
I wish to turn the planters into a stage. This stage will be used as a incentive for students to come share out their poster on why we need to reuse, reduce and recycle Earth’s resources based on what was discussed in the story or from prior knowledge at home and at school. Each student will get the opportunity take the stage and be on the spot light to share their wonderful ideas.
