My Project

Teaching in a Pre-K classroom is a new adventure every day. Early learners are naturally curious about the world around them, and they come to school daily ready to explore and armed with many questions! Each month our class dives into a new unit to satisfy that curiosity. Our upcoming unit of exploration centers around "Clothing".

Through this unit, we will provide students with the opportunity to focus on clothing that represents their immediate community, as well as the clothing of other cultures throughout the world.

Students will use the globe to begin to get an idea of the vastness of the world around them. The pictures and books about the world and diversity will help us begin conversations about ourselves and other cultures. Students will then utilize the food and clothing in dramatic play to expand on what we've learned about other cultures (what they eat, how they dress, and how they celebrate). We are excited about the discussions that learning through play will produce - how cultures are different, but also in what ways we are the same!
