My Students

Our students are unique because of the diversity found in our classroom. Currently, I teach inclusion geometry with Ms. T. Serving approximately 150 students, inclusion education is the integration of special needs students with the general population.

My classroom is a place for diverse students to learn and grow into young adults with the skills to thrive in our ever-developing world.

These students come from a variety of cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school is almost all low income with students from all around the world, making 39% of our student's English language learners as well. We have been dubbed the most diverse school in the state of Arkansas. Our goal is to provide every possible advantage for our students to develop the skills necessary to become as successful as they can be, regardless of how their disability may try to hinder them.

My Project

November of each year as American Indian Heritage Month. In the past, this celebration has often been overlooked in many schools. As educators, we aim to inspire young men and women to accomplish great things. We have a diverse student population, yet we have few things in our classroom that represent our student's identity. In an effort to do so, we intend to create a display in our classroom of books focused on the visibility of the American Indian community through books written by and about Indigenous people.

We intend for every young person that enters our classroom to leave with equitable respect for people and belief in their ability to achieve great things.

By providing these books as resources to our students, we hope to help our students see themselves in our classroom. We want students to feel accepted for who they are and know that they have a place in our school community.

The books we have requested are varying reading levels and lengths to accommodate our students that are represented in our classroom.

By supporting our project, you can help our students feel represented in our classroom.
