Help me give my students an assortment of Halloween, Christmas and animals books.
My students are from a low socioeconomic background in a small neighborhood school. They are in a high risk, Title I school. They receive free breakfast and lunch, and we have many who participate in the Backpack Buddies Program. Every day these students walk into the classroom eager to learn. They live in the digital age and embrace each new form of technology. We endure budget cuts every year, leaving the students to go without many resources that aid their success.
These books will make such a wonderful addition to the classroom library. My students love reading a variety of genres. They are also at an age where they enjoy listening to books read aloud to them. Second graders get excited about the holidays and during the school year as we celebrate, they enjoy looking through the classroom library for books pertaining to that particular holiday or season. Whenever you read a book, you learn a new information that otherwise would not have known. I always want to encourage my students to learn and grow. It's important to me as their teacher to make sure they have the materials they deserve to progress academically.
