My Project

Lunar New Year is observed in some form by more than 37% of the student population.

Providing tools and resources to create decorations for Lunar New Year can help foster understanding and appreciation for different student populations and create a more inclusive and respectful learning community.

Students will have the opportunity to apply STEM skills and creativity by utilizing various makerspace tools to produce high-quality Lunar New Year decorations. The tools they will be using include glue guns to create 3D objects, vellum paper for paper crafts, and heat pressing pillows for dye sublimation projects. These decorations will be displayed throughout the school to celebrate this special occasion.

The Lunar New Year and Asian culture are steeped with many symbolic traditions that carry deep cultural significance.

Each year is represented by a specific animal sign, this year, the Wood Dragon. The dragon represents different things in various cultures. Its image can be incorporated into the different products the students might create using the tools and resources provided by this project.
