About My Students

Alex, Hector, Ashley, Jordan, Mary are just a few members of the Northwest School of the Arts Spanish Honors Society. Spanish Honor Society is open to all students who have passed through the first semester of Spanish. Additionally, applicants must show interest in the Spanish language by participating in at least two Spanish Club activities before being admitted to the Spanish Honor Society. One of the three activities must be an immersion experience.

The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese founded the Spanish Honor Society in 1953 for the students of North American secondary schools.

Unless you’re pursuing a career as a novelist or truck driver, it’s inevitable that we’re going to have to work alongside others. This is precisely why teamwork skills are a vital element in today’s workforce. Whether you’ve had a bad experience working in groups in the past or you simply feel that functioning on your own is more efficient, there will come a time when working in a group will not only be helpful but necessary.

Not only will this skill set serve us well in our future career but it’ll help us acquire the knowledge and training we will need to get there. Regardless of what program we’re enrolled in, teamwork skills will likely be incorporated in our schoolwork. So it’s time to stop avoiding working with others and leverage this opportunity to thrive in a group setting!

In Their Own Words

The goals of this project are to secure the resources necessary to have a successful Latino Night celebration. Exposing students to a new culture is paramount for acceptance and understanding of people(s) who may not look like, or sound like you. This project is part of our school Pro-Caring climate and culture. The items requested, such as paper decorations, candy, banners, and games, will be used during the festival celebration so visitors will get an authentic feeling of a Hispanic games.

We believe that leadership is about learning to lead yourself, as well as leading others. In fact, in our Spanish Honors Society, we stress that learning to lead yourself is the basis for leading others.

We encourage everyone at our school to take responsibility for their own learning. They can then develop a sense of responsibility, self efficacy, and a positive mindset, coupled with planning and organisational skills, which enable them to become better learners, therefore gaining higher attainment.

Young people in today’s schools will be the next generation of leaders in the workplace, in our communities and in their families. Because genuine leadership opportunities support transition into adulthood, foster the skills and character to be responsible citizens, and promote social and emotional well-being.

This project is important to us and the school because we are a school that is open and accepting of all diverse student backgrounds. We spend several days a year engaged in Pro-Caring Days to highlight the backgrounds of all our students. This project will give our Latino students a way to shine.
