I have a wonderful and diverse group of students. I have over six different languages spoken in my classroom. Many of my students speak very little English and have just recently come to the United States as refugees from other countries. The diversity in the classroom can cause challenges for teaching, but it also makes my room unique and special! I wouldn't have it any other way!
My students love to learn, laugh and play!
They are curious, self-motivated learners who always want to know more!
My Project
I have 18 students in my class, 15 of these students are from Burma or have parents that were born there. They all speak Karen and English.
I want to make my classroom welcoming, safe, and accepting for all of my students!
I am requesting multicultural kid puppets for my students to use in our reading area. I think it is important for all student to see themselves in the toys they play with. I also think it is important to teach students about different cultures, races, religions, and customs. If we teach our students to celebrate diversity at a young age, hopefully they will grow to love and accept people and understand that our differences are what make us unique, special, and interesting!
I am also requesting pose and play families for my students to use in our dollhouse and block areas. Again, I want my students to be able to play with a wide range of different toys that celebrate being different!
