Help me give my students the Classroom Collage Box, collage animals, ink pads, alphabet stampers, watercolors and water color misters and paint smocks.
At our school, we firmly believe that all children, no matter what their cognitive levels are, have the capacity to learn. Through this belief, we as teachers are constantly finding creative and new learning approaches to help our students be successful.
This year, I am working with twenty amazing 4-year-old preschool students attending our full day preschool program.
These students are either attending preschool for the very first time or transitioning from half-day to full day. The students come from various cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds which lends itself to a diverse classroom environment. The students also have different learning preferences whether it is visual, kinesthetic, or auditory.
Regardless of their backgrounds and their learning preference, all of the students are eager to learn and explore their world around them. My goal is to give them as many tools as possible to become active and engaged learners. The past year has been fantastic! My students have been so excited receiving items that we have had funded through DonorsChoose.org. I love seeing the excitement on their faces as they explore new materials that help enhance our learning program. We are always grateful when a project gets funded!
My Project
While we do have a great start to with the art supplies we have in our classroom, we would like to add additional materials to further expand the students art experience. The materials I am asking for will help accomplish this.
Allowing students to create their own pieces of art helps to expand their imagination skills, their language skills and their social/emotional skills.
Preschool should be fun and messy! I am asking for art materials to help enhance the art center within the classroom. Additional painting smocks are needed to help protect their clothing. The alphabet stampers and ink pads will allow the students to learn the alphabet and also practice stamping out their names. The liquid water color set and misters will allow the students to experiment with different styles of art while learning about them especially Impressionism. The classroom collage box has materials and collage boards that I know the students will enjoy. There is enough material within this box that will allow them to create their own collage masterpieces to take home and share with their parents. For all of their art creations, we encourage the students to dictate a short sentence or two about their creation such as what it is, why they made it, colors used, etc. Lastly, the art center calls for cooperation between students in sharing the materials and taking turns.
