Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Remember when your parents read to you before you went to bed every night? Even though there were no pictures, you could visualize and get swept away!
My students are incredible!
I have 28 motivated English Learner students eager to learn. My students come from a low socioeconomic background with limited resources available. We are a Title 1, Performance Improvement school with 100% free lunch program. Many parents work 2 jobs and are struggling to support the family.
Though their environment may not be conducive to learning, they have an insatiable love of learning! I know that if we provide them with the right support, resources, and opportunities, they can experience success.
My Project
Thanks to Donors Choose, we have Cd's of wonderful books. The problem is, I only have the CD and not the book. I am asking for 13 books which I have the audio CD's for including "Ramona the Brave" and "Where the Wild Things Are." As you know, a voice can reveal so much more context than merely print, but without the book, how can they follow along as the CD is being played? They will use the book and CD during "Daily Five" when they are "Listening to Reading."
Just like an artist needs paint to go with a paintbrush, a reader needs the book to go with the audio CD.
Together they can create a masterpiece! The book will come to "life" when it is paired with the audio CD. Please help our Cd's find it's partner!!
