Help me give my students a treasure chest full of rewards (motivational pencils, toys, pencil sharpeners, and wristbands) for their many successes
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am the behavioral specialist/counselor and I typically work with students with special needs-this year I am serving all the district schools. Sometimes I also support the general population as well. Many of the students that I serve have mental health issues, emotional disabilities or impaired cognitive abilities making it difficult to function in some day to day activities or expectations. A large majority of the students I work with have challenging behaviors as a result. Our school is a rural one and consists mostly of students who receive free lunches. Many of the families have been here for generations.
Across my experiences, I can attest to every student possessing unique and admirable qualities indiscriminate of the grade, ethnic background, socioeconomic factors or any other attributes.
Our school makes student academic progress a priority. Our students read during class and leisure time. They participate in a variety of problem solving skills in mathematics to improve their academic achievement.
In order for us to reward our students for their success of improving their academic progress and citizenship, we are requesting a treasure chest filled with toys, games, and activity books as their reward incentives.
Every week, we will identify the students who exhibit outstanding behavior and great academic progress. These students will be given a Golden ticket. The tickets will be placed in the Primary Grade K-2 jar and the Intermediate Grade 3-5 jar. Four students’ names will be drawn from the jar. Two student names from the Primary Grades will be drawn. Two student names from the Intermediate Grades will be drawn. The students whose names are drawn will have the opportunity to pull prizes from the treasure chest. We would like to continue this incentive weekly to allow students who exhibit the “Outstanding Academic Progress and Citizenship” characteristics to be awarded prizes from the treasure chest. This donation to purchase prizes for the treasure chest will be greatly appreciated.
