My Students

My 8:1:1 Special Education Class has a population of students in pre-k to 2nd grade, with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Some students are able to vocalize while others are nonverbal. My young learners love to dance and use manipulative for sensory activities. As young learners, it is important that they are exposed and motivated to try different things. They are very curious about the world around them. Through play and exploration, they will be practicing daily living skills, early literacy/math skills, and communication skills to build towards independence.

My Project

Donating to this project, you will be contributing to students with Special Needs to reach their academic goals and allow for them to build independence.

My young learners are ready to explore and learn!

With a diverse population of students in grades, K-2 with Special Needs, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, these materials, and manipulatives for the classroom will assist students in building developmental skills in all academic areas. These manipulatives will allow students the opportunity to work independently on their skills that they are learning in the classroom! Especially now, social distancing in the classroom is very important and with these materials, they will be easy to sanitize, to ensure the safety of the class as a whole. For this class of grade K-2 students, it is important to have hands-on experience and always have fun while learning!

Being a first-year teacher and having students enter the classroom for the first time in a long time, we are short on appropriate academic materials. These materials will not only help students with their individual academic needs but will allow them to have a better transition into school!
