My students are prekindergarten students who meet the state requirements and are labeled as being "at risk" of not succeeding, thus they are placed in the program to help them succeed. They are four years of age and live in a medium-large city.
My children love to explore, experiment, build, and create, and I am eager to expand resources in my classroom.
My classroom is beautiful and has many materials. I have increased my STEM/STEAM resources a great deal in the last few years, and enjoy using these materials with my students.
My school follows the Nurtured Heart philosophy, where we work to find the greatness in each child. In my classroom, I try to make each child comfortable and part of our school family.
My Project
My classroom was put together a few years ago, before I entered the district. When it was put together, we were given 16 cots for 16 students. Unfortunately, 5 of these cots don't match, so it makes it extremely difficult to store them easily. In addition, the odd cots are heavier than the rest (even though they are shorter).
Victor Hugo- "A mother's arms are made of tenderness, and children sleep soundly in them." I can't hold all 16 of my children at once, so a comfortable cot is the best I can give them.
Giving my children cots that can be stacked in any order (and that are lighter) will give my children more independence and will enable them to feel good about themselves.
