Help me give my students the resources to bring their reading levels up. The Word Family Books will be an added bonus to my lower level reading intervention students.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
What makes my students special? My students are special due to the fact they have many disadvantages in life. Their neighborhood is one of the lowest income areas in our district. They are English language learners. Every day they come into my intervention classroom with a great big smile and a desire to learn. Our school welcomes all children and gives them the best learning experiences for all these friendly student faces.
During our school day students struggle to read and write in English.
The high level of standards creates anxiety at such a young age. For instance a Kindergarten student will try to answer questions in English but struggles and reverts back to his/her native language. Even though students live in poverty, if you ask them, "Are you poor?" they probably will say, "No!" They don't understand poverty or being poor until they are older. I am the intervention teacher so besides these disadvantages they come to school every day and enter my room with learning issues. These students work harder than all the other students at our school because they want to succeed.
My Project
My Intervention room is open to students who need the extra support with their struggles in reading. Having the word family books will give them extra practice with the skills I teach. The What Sound? word sliders is a fun activity to get the students motivated to want to learn new words. With my kindergarten students playing the Alphabet Bingo game will enforce the letters and sounds they are learning in their classroom.
"Breaking the Code" in reading is so important to opening doors to all students.
I want my students to find the love of reading. Our students struggle with many disadvantages in their learning to read. I hope to give them the ability to learn to love reading and learning.
