My third-grade classroom is an exciting place for all students to learn and grow as scholars and citizens of a bigger world. They are taught and encouraged to work with others to challenge each other and themselves.
It is a place where differences are celebrated and supported.
As a class community, we understand that children learn in different ways and at different paces. With that understanding in mind, students work together in teams to leverage each student’s strengths to help each other learn and grow. Some students work best in groups, while others need some space to process information alone before engaging with others. Some students need hard copies of texts while others prefer digital or audio/visual access to those same or differentiated texts to best process and learn from them. The students are highly engaged in their learning and progress due to their input and investment in the process.
My Project
The requested books and digital magazines, as well as the Lenovo tablets to access them, will give my students access to information about various animals, habitats, and conservation heroes from across the globe. My students will read and research about animals, habitats, and conservationists through the Who Would Win books, Who Was Books, What Is books, various Scholastic Magazines on their grade level and the Internet.
After researching and reading various hybrid texts pairing scientific concepts with genre-specific elements through trade books and Storyworks Jr.
Magazine, students will use the tablets to write narratives, informational, and opinion based entries for a PS55 Edition of Storywork Jr. and create ShowMe Tutorials to support the hardcopy.
