This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very hard workers. They always try to strive to do their very best. This is one of my favorite things about my class. Many of the students in my class have had very difficult experiences in their immediate surroundings. I love how strong and confident they are amidst the struggles they face daily.
The students in my class are very eager to take picture walks and read with their buddy.
They love to have their buddy read to them in the classroom and anything they can read on the Word Wall and around school. My students work with their buddy to solve problems and collaborate with each other.
My Project
I am asking for multiple books for my class. I want my students to love reading as much as I do, and I want to provide a selection of books that will offer something for everyone.
My students love to read especially if they can do it together.
My students will use the books to read out loud together. They will practice fluency and comprehension skills as they read. These books will make a huge difference in my students’ motivation to learn and read together. Reading will not only transport the students to a new place or take them on an adventure, it also will expose them to new vocabulary and help with spelling along with developing better writing skills.
