Ignacio Estrada wrote "If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn." Being a Title 1 school, my class is an exciting group with mixed interests, needs, abilities and goals. Some of my students are learning how to read, count and others are learning the English Language. My class loves to explore with different materials in centers for ELA and Math that helps them grow academically. These kids love to work in centers, where they have to be responsible for their own learning.
In this class, we build a strong foundation about being the leader of themselves and to be responsible.
All of my students are highly motivated to come to school and try their best. They bring such diversity into our classroom that allows me to incorporate it into our learning. Students need to be able to have choices in learning that helps them succeed the best. Most of them ask, first thing in the morning, when are we going to do centers? Their passion to learn and be responsible for their own learning motivates me to provide the best resources I can for them.
My Project
Integrating technology into the daily learning allows students to strengthen oral language skills, connect pictures to vocabulary words, listen as a story is being read, and engage in interactive math programs. Learning how each of my students learn best, I have implement technology programs that allows these students to learn to the best of their abilities. Right now our iPads are unprotected! Without proper cases and care, they can break easily. These 1st graders are motivated to learn, and when they get the chance to use technology the biggest excitement runs through them. I want to provide more resources for my students to help them become stronger learners. 1st grade lays the foundation for children to be successful in school by teaching them how to read and learn basic math skills. Our iPads would allow them to use programs like Reading A-Z as a listening center and explore within iReady for both math and reading skills. But to be able to use our iPads properly they need to be safe so they can receive the proper care, and last a long time! We need your help to get these cases!
