My Students
My scholars are generally low-income kids from a very rural, underserved county in North Carolina. Every child at my school gets a free or reduced lunch. Having recently funded a project for 27 new Fire Tablets through DonorsChoose, the only thing left to do is ensure the sustainability of this brand new resource. With 27 new Tablet Cases, the effort to bring new technology to the classroom will be officially underway.
My scholars are creative, talented, and inquisitive.
They are growing physically and mentally every day and have their eyes on the horizon of high school. They are really coming into their own and deciding what they want to do, and how they want to do it.
Although they come from an underserved district, I never hear any complaints from them. They are proud of where they come from and are determined to put it on the map. One day, they will.
My Project
I have recently secured funding for 27 brand new Fire Tablets for my 8th Grade ELA students. The last piece of the puzzle is securing funding for the protective cases that will envelop the tablets. These cases will give the kids the ability to prop up the tablets as well as protect them should they fall. Mishaps happen, and I want to make sure my scholars will be able to utilize these tablets as often as possible. Unprotected tablets are a disaster waiting to happen and these covers will make sure nothing will stand in our way of incorporating more technology in our lessons, to expose and engage my scholars as much as possible to the fantastic resources constantly popping up on the internet. With these cases, the technological revolution will officially be well under way in my classroom and will remain for many years to come!
