Our children come from a range of backgrounds, African, Moroccan, and African American. Our classroom of 18 is housed in a Community Center in a low income suburb of Pittsburgh.
This special group of children love one another and learn so much from their interactions together.
The boys and girls love to play together in our car and block area. The garage and set of vehicles will be a valuable addition to our unit on transportation! It is also a great way for children to learn cooperation and sharing of materials!
Currently, we have a carpet with a roadway design for our car play. I would love for the children to have the opportunity to get more deeply involved in their play with vehicles. With the garage/roadway, the children will be able to explore ramps, hills, parking areas recognize road signs and begin to develop STEM learning as they test different variables with their vehicles. The kids won't even know they are learning as the STEM roots begin to take place!
The children's "wheels" will be turning as they are working and discovering with their hands.
Toy cars are a great way to make all of this happen!
